Walleye Whanging Weekend.

Win a 3-day stay at Muskeg's Inferior Inn, and all the fish you can eat, in this years Walleye Whanging Weekend of fun for all the family.

The Muskeg Creek Fishing Club will be holding their annual “Walleye Whanging Weekend” next Monday and Tuesday. Every one young and old are invited to participate, entrance fee is a toony per adult and loony per person under 16 years.

The competition will be officially declared open by His worship the Mayor Bill Bannock at 10am by the registration table next to Hancock's Statue. There will be ice holes allocated at Random. Random is 1 mile north of the registration point, and will be marked on the official registration form. Participants will have until 4pm to catch their own walleye, which cannot measure more than 3 foot 6 inches or weigh more than 10Ibs. Metric measurements are not valid. No other fish will be accepted in the whanging competition.

At 5pm the whanging will commence at the specially designed course on the lake adjacent to the rangers tea and coffee shack. The person who can throw or whang their wet walleye the furthest will be declared the winner.

Last years winner of the under 16 group was Mary Jane MacDonald with wonderful whang, throwing her walleye a distance of 32ft. In the ladies group Hillary Fischer won her section with a whang of 57 feet 3 inches, beating her previous record by a tail. Mike (the Moose) Malone was the winner in the men's section after a tie and a re-whang with an all time record of 84feet 1inch. When asked how he felt at his whanging win Mike said, “I am proud to be the biggest Tosser in Town”

There will be a free barbecue with Flung Fried Flattened Fish with Chips, cooked by Chinese Chef Harry Wrong. Followed by a dance under the Northern lights to the music of Muskeg's own tribute band with songs of the forties lead by Glen Milner, with special guests The Eno's Sisters.

First prize is a 2-day stay Muskeg's Inferior Inn, with all the fish you can eat. Second prize a week at the Inferior Inn, without fish. Third prize a year's supply of filleted fish.
